iControl is an operational intelligence tool that gives companies real time end-to-end visibility on their business and IT processes and effectively flags processes that go wrong. Our challenge was to design a granular and highly customisable product that could be used by various audience with different needs and scales – from international banks to small online retailers. iControl allows users to defines and track SLAs at critical points in companies process and allows users to respond quickly and effectively.
As the Lead UX designer I was responsible to work closely with Product owners, Visual designer, Front & Back end developers starting from conceptual design to final build. I conducted requirement gathering, user testing, rapid prototyping, and high fidelity wireframing while working closely with Deutsche Bank’s internal Operations team to bring iControl to market.
Self Service Dashboarding
iControl was designed with user experience at its heart. Our challenge was to design a tool that is flexible and useful to any Business, Enterprise and IT platform. We carefully studied numerous use cases, and designed widgets that catered to the wide range of data visualisation needed for different processes. The widgets enabled users to create their own drag and drop dashboard that is efficient for monitoring and reporting.
Power to the widgets
Designing widgets that were easy, efficient and flexible to use meant giving control back in the hands of the field experts. Each widget enabled users to view, sort and filter data as needed allowing them to make the most of each widget. Quick interactions were key to bring vital information at users fingertips. Use of colours and patterns were also used to communicate different type of data, such as real time vs predictive.
Flow designer
For users to monitor business flow performance, they need to map out their flows. Our creative objective was to design a simple tool that enabled users to create business flow, simply using drag and drop components which could be customised when necessary.
The key is in the detail
Designing a specialist App required constant involvement of the experts who will use the tool. We worked closely with Deutsche Bank’s internal Operations team to understand use cases and requirements. That meant producing high fidelity wireframes, and rapid prototyping in order to obtain accurate feedback.

Bring fun to forms
Once of the challenges UX designers face is how to bring fun to forms. Designing an app that is tailored for configuration and flexibility brings this challenge with it. Keeping forms clear, simple and adding subtle interactions enables us to design configuration screens that were fun and easy to use.
